Most field-service apps were designed in air-conditioned offices by people who tested them on a phone held at eye level under a desk lamp. Take one of those apps into a backyard on a 95-degree afternoon and the experience falls apart: the screen is unreadable, the tap targets are too small for work gloves, and the whole thing freezes the moment the phone drops to one bar.

SplashIQ's field app is the opposite. Every screen has been pressure-tested in the actual conditions a pool technician works in: blinding sun, sweaty hands, fenced-in yards with no signal, fifteen visits to log between 7am and 4pm. The result is an app that disappears into the job instead of getting in the way.

Designed for sunlight and gloves

The field app uses high-contrast surfaces — dark text on bright backgrounds, no fashionable low-contrast greys — so the screen stays readable in direct sun. Tap targets are oversized for a reason: a technician with a wet, gloved finger can hit them on the first try. Forms are short and use the right keyboard for the right field, so capturing a chlorine reading is two taps and a number, not a dialog box festival.

Photo capture is a single tap from inside a visit. The image attaches to the right visit and the right equipment automatically — no fumbling with a camera roll, no risk of uploading a photo to the wrong customer. Before/after pairs are presented side by side in the homeowner portal without any extra work.

Connection-loss protection, with clear limits

When an assigned visit is already open, the field app stores chemistry readings, notes, checklist changes and completion actions in an IndexedDB queue. Each reading receives a stable ID, so retrying after an ambiguous network failure does not create a duplicate. The queue is also bound to the signed-in technician so one user's work cannot replay under another session.

The moment the phone gets service back, pending changes sync in order and the technician sees the remaining queue count. Photos and opening a fresh session still require connectivity; full offline application launch is planned but is not represented as available today.

The field app is a mobile web app with a home-screen manifest. A technician opens a link and can save it to the home screen without waiting for an app-store install. Updates are delivered with the web deployment. A connection is currently required to start a fresh session.
